Water removal after a garage water heater failure is mostly about the water you did not see leave. A garage slab is poured low and pitched toward the door, so most of a ruptured tank drains itself down the driveway and the floor is dry before anyone gets home. The gallons that went the other way crossed the step into the house, ran flat under the hall tile, and are sitting in the bottom of the drywall and under the flooring in whatever rooms that hallway serves.
Extraction on a slab is a mapping job before it is a pumping job. There is nowhere for water to collect, so what remains after the surface dries is spread through materials: pad, plank seams, grout, cabinet toe kicks, and the paper facing of the drywall at the wall base. Pulling that back out on the same visit is what keeps a two-room dry-out from turning into a flooring and drywall replacement.
The part of the extraction nobody watches
The standing water is twenty minutes. After that we work the materials: weighted passes on carpet, a portable extractor along the wall base, drying panels on hard surfaces where water sits under a bonded floor, and a wand into the void behind a cabinet kick. A thermal camera tells us where the wet field ends so we are not guessing at the edge, and the readings from that first pass become the baseline every later reading is measured against. Then drying equipment goes in, sized to the rooms rather than to what happened to be on the truck.
